Fall & Halloween Cards

This month I had the chance to help with some of the cards for our annual Queen’s of the Stampin’ Age Group meeting.  I designed lots of fun fall and Halloween cards and then we picked four of them for everyone to make at the group meeting.  We made a total of 24 cards plus a fun bonus project.  You can check out all the other cards we got to make under samples or by clicking here.

Fall Embossed LeafFall Embossed Leaf

This was one of the cards picked to make.  I love that the leaf is embossed and the wood piece was made with the Big Shot and the texture dies.

Spooky Eyes- ClosedSpooky Eyes

Spooky Eyes- OpenThis card was one of my favorites.  I used the window sheets on the back of the circles so I could put the eye on it then when you open it up it says BOO with the cute little pumpkins.  This was other card that they got to make.  I also loved how simple it was.

Spider CardSpider Card

I love our punches and this card shows it.   This cute little spider will brighten anyone’s day.  Yet another fun card everyone got to make.

Circle EEKCircle Eek

I saw this card on a blog and just had to create it.  I changed the colors, but I love the idea.  You could use it for so many different kinds of cards.  What a great way to use all of our circle punches.  I also love it because it only uses paper so it’s easy to mail and very inexpensive to make.

Here was another idea that I cased from someone.  Sorry I don’t remember where I found the idea.  I just love these pumpkins.

More pumpkins.  I told you I loved them.  This is another cute card that I cased.

This was the last card that we got to make.  You may recognize it as well as it was last months club card.  After club I just had to have this set.   Now I love it.  The Give Thanks comes from a level one hostess set.

May Club- DSP

May club was lots of fun.  We focused on the Designer Series Paper promotion that is going on this month.  The deal is buy 3 get on free on any of our Designer Series Paper, Designer Prints Paper and Textured Card-stock.  I love our DSP so I’m really excited about this promotion.  It ends May 31st so there is still time for you to get in on this great  promotion.

May '09 ButerflyThe paper that I chose to showcase is the the Walk in the Park from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I used the layout design from page 6 of the mini catalog as my inspiration.  Because I was making a two page layout I actually split the design across the two pages.  I wanted to use the Textured card-stock so I used it as the pieces that were punched.  It adds a nice texture to the page.  Both the large butterfly and the forever card-stock were cut out with the big shot.

May '09 Buterfly FriendI also created a card that matched the theme from the pages.  Remember that when you are using DSPyou can use it as just an accent on your page or card.  You don’t need to make the entire project out of it.  One of my favorite parts is how fun the butterfly looks under the ribbon.  You may have noticed the words in the oval.  The original saying is thank you.  We used the markers to color just the edge and the butterfly.  Then we used “Friend” from Fundamental Phrases to add the word.  This technique is great to make a variety of different cards with any saying that you want.

May '09 Buterfly Die CutThis last card was a design that I cased from a card we made at Amy’s meeting last month.  I loved the layout and thought it would work great with the DSP.  As you can see I’ve only used the DSP for the butterfly and the small background pieces behind it.  Because the DSP is thin you can actually corner round all three of the small strips at the same time.

Technique Tuesday 3-17-09

I have often been asked how I get my knots so nice.  I will have to confess when I first started I turned to my up-line all the time for help.  Now after a thousand swaps or so I can finally tie a good knot.  I thought that maybe if I showed you step by step it would help.

ribbon-step-1I think the biggest thing that helps me is I usually tie the knot when it is still connected to the roll of ribbon.  This makes it easy to always tie it correctly because I only have one end of the ribbon to work with.

Step 1- So first I place my ribbon under the idem I am going to tie the knot on.

ribbon-step-2Step 2- Next I cross the two pieces of ribbon. As you can see the roll of ribbon is now on the left side and the end I am tying with is crossed over to the right.

ribbon-step-3Step 3- Next you want to fold the lose end over the top and under the end attached to the roll.

ribbon-step-4Step 4- Now fold down the end attached to the roll.  Now both ends of the ribbon should be facing down.  The loose end is on the right side and the attached end is on the left side.

ribbon-step-5Step 5-  Fold the lose end up across the attached end.

ribbon-step-6Step 6- Tuck the lose end under the attached end.

ribbon-step-7Step 7- Your finished knot.  I believe this is called a square not, but I’m not sure.  You think I would know since I have 4 boys and they are in scouts.  I have found that when I tie a knot like this the ends both go down.  If I want them to go up I just tie it upside down.  On of the keys to a perfect knot is to keep the ribbon nice and flat through each step.

ribbon-finishedHere is the finished project.  I hope that this helps you in tying the perfect knot.  Remember that it also takes practice so just keep on tying.

sab-bunny-cardHere is another sample of the same card with a different picture and saying.  I got this card idea from Becky Roberts blog.  You can check it out here www.inkingidaho.blogspot.com.

Wacky Wednesday 3-11-09

So you are probably wondering why these fun cards are featured under Wacky Wednesday.  Well it’s really pretty simple.  When I was looking at these cards and trying to decide where to put them I realized that I had forgotten to post my projects of the month.

good-friend-cardThese cute cards match the projects perfectly.  I will hopefully get them posted later today.  So I figured I was a little Wacky and running behind as usual.

Since I leave on the 20th and I’m getting a late start on getting out my monthly projects I decided two things.  First I’m going to extend the deadline for this month (see more info with the projects) and 2nd I’m going to give the products to make these to cards with any kit that is ordered before the end of the month.  You can email me at andersoncandice@hotmail.com or call me at 435-245-5321.  Click here to see the projects.

good-friend-circle-cardBoth of these cards were ones we made at our shoebox swap a few weeks ago.  I’m not sure who designed the one with the rectangle but I know the circle one was by my awesome up-line Janice Barlow.  I think they are both really cute.  I love that they both used a different color of yellow and it works great with the DSP.
