Signature Stamps in MDS

Last year my grandmother passed away and I had the opportunity to create a book for our family to remember her. My Digital Studio made this so easy. I had all our friends and family send me pictures of Grandma. Once I had those I was ready to go. I started with the template Sweet Details which comes with MDS. I made a few changes to add in additional photo boxes to fit in all those great pictures everyone sent and added words that worked well with the pictures. I also left plenty of room for signatures.

Grandma's book Front
Once I had the book ready to go I printed at a local printers and placed it in smooth sheet protectors. We took the book to the funeral and had everyone sign on the sheet protectors with a sharpie marker and write a special memory about my Grandma.

Grandma's Book Signature on page protector
After the funeral I took the book home and flipped the pages over so that all I had was the signature with a white background. I scanned these into the computer then used Photoshop to delete out the white background and turn the image into a SVG file.  SVG file is the same type of file that MDS uses to create stamps in the program. I saved all of my signatures in MDS under stamps and I was ready to go.

I added each signature to the pages. This was really nice because I was able to change the colors to make them match, re-size if needed and even move to a different page to spread things out. I also moved embellishments and pictures if necessary to make all the signatures look good with the pages and pictures.

After I had everything in I was able to print the book through Stampin’ Up! to have a nice finished book. We actually printed like 15 books so that each family could have book of their own and have all the great pictures plus memories. I love it because everyone was able to have this special book instead of just one person.

Grandma's Book Finished Signatures
I think this idea is perfect for family reunions, special birthdays, weddings, graduations really just about any special occasion that many people would love to have the memory. I plan on making one for my son that is graduating this year and have friends and family write special messages. I think this would also be great if your child is part of a team like band, cheer, dance or any group they spend a lot of time with. You can create a book with pictures from the events and messages from all the participants then add it all together so everyone can have a special memory book.

.

I know this is a little advanced but I wanted to share it anyway because it just really gets me excited. If you would be interested in my creating a book like this for your event please let me know. I’d be happy to help you, or if you would like to make one of your own I’d be happy to help you with the steps as well. Hopefully you’ll find lots of great uses for this idea. I even think it would be fun to have your kids write a message each year that you could add to the family year book and have their handwriting preserved from year to year and see how it changes. If you have any questions please let me know.

Hybrid MDS Project

I’ve enjoyed sharing MDS with so many of you during my free classes.  While I was talking to them about this wonderful program I mentioned how easy it to create Hybrid projects.  A Hybrid Project is where part of your project is created Digitaly and the other is created traditionally.  I was telling them about one of the projects the I created last year for the Stampin’ Up! Artisan design contest.  This was one of my favorite projects.  It’s a 12 x 12 scrapbook page.  One of the pictures that I used was the Birth announcement that I created in “My Digital Studio.”  I just printed it out larger to put it on the page.

Love Page

I love all the detail I was able to add to the page and how the MDS is the only color that I added to the page.  It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the whole thing sparkles and shimmers.  It’s was actually created as more of a show piece then one that would go in a scrapbook since it has so many layers.  I just re-created it (finally) so that I could hang it up in my daughters room that we just finished painting.  I put it in one of those 12 x 12 frames and it looks so cute.  Just so you know a few of the items are retired now as it was created last year.

MDS is such a great tool you can use to enhance your traditional scrapbook as well as creating all Digital projects.  I hope that you will join me from one of my future classes.  You can down-load the free MDS trial from my website or better yet just buy the program for the new low cost of just $19.95.

If you have any questions let me know.

4-April

Covention Swaps 12 x 12 group 1

Sorry I’ve been missing in action we’ve had internet problems and I’ve had camera issues, but I’m back and with some fabulous swaps form convention. The last group I did was 12 x 12 pages. There were actually two group for this one. Because there are so many I’m going to break them up in 4 groups. So enjoy!

There is no particular order here and I will try and let you know who did each one (hopefully they are all marked.)  Thanks again to everyone who participated all of the pages are great.   I’ve already used some for Club and I’m looking forward to adding pictures to them.

First up is mine.  I used the awesome Awash with Flowers Set.  It’s hard to tell but the flowers are done with a fun technique that gives you a water color look even though it’s a solid stamp.

Awash with Flowers
#117063 Wood $39.95
#120549 Clear $ 27.95

Word Play
#120308 Wood $41.95
#120651 Clear $28.95

#117163 Elegant Soiree DSP  $9.95

Is this page just cute or what.  I love it.  It was created by Shelly May.  I love the colors and the overall layout.  Plus how cute is the cogs punch.  I’m so glad that they put it in the catalog.

#117164 Celebrations DSP  $9.95

#118873 Cogs Extra- large Double Punch $17.95

# 111550 Sock Monkey  $26.95

More Monkey Accessories
#116962 Wood $16.95
#120468 Clear $12.95

Party this way
#118744 Wood $15.95
#120609 Clear $11.95

This page is so fun and so cute.  In fact I used it for club last month.  With just one change.  Her cute sand is actually made with real sand paper.  I created it with the awesome log cabin spray.  I just love all the fun punch art on this page as well.  It was created by Natalie Cottle.

Punches used:
#119856   Scallop Oval  $16.95
#119856   1-1/4″ Square  $15.95
#119850 1-3/4″ Circle  $16.95
#119869 1/2″ Circle  $5.95
#119872 Spiral Boarder $15.95

#119871 3/16″ Corner $6.95

Can I say I’m in love.  This page is adorable.  It was made by Melanie Williams and she would say it’s a little Cheese.  I would have to agree.  The cheese is so cute I love how easy it is to make just using all of our different circle punches.  Plus doesn’t the hamburger just look good enough to eat.  She even added texture to the bun by using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.

#117335 Perfect Polka Dots $7.95

On the Grill
#116970 Wood $23.95
#120474 Clear $17.95

The last fun page for today was created by Deanne Henderson.  I love how simple it is yet very I catching.  There’s so much detail in all the flowers.  Off course they were created with our great punches again.  What you can’t see very well is the fun Rhinestones in the center of the small flowers.  With 150 per package it’s so easy to add fun bling to your page.

#119246 Basic Rhinestones $4.95

#119831 Sunny Garden DSP $9.95

#117158 In Color Patterns DSP Stack $19.95

Hope you enjoyed them and were inspired by all the great talent.  Come back soon to check out the other three groups.
