Thrifty Thursday 3-5-09

Here’s a blast from the past.  This was the first Scrapbook page I made as a Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator.  I used one of our Simply Scrapin’®Kits.  I don’t think there is anything (besides paper and inks) that is still available.

campI really love the Simply Scrapin’ Kitsbecause they make scrapbooking fast and easy.  They come with the stickers, DSP and Cardstock add a few stamps and accessories and you are good to go.

This page really works for Thrifty Thursday because it uses the Stampin’ Pastels® to achieve all the great colors.  The chalks are a very economical way to get our wonderful colors.  This is a simple technique called poppin’ pastels.  It’s actually really easy.  All you do is stamp your image using the VersaMark® ink and the apply the chalk.  The best way to apply the chalk is with our wonderful sponge daubers.

If you’ve never tried this technique before I encourage you to give it a try.  If it’s been a while then it’s a great time to remember it.  Here is a list of supplies you will need:
 105542 Stampn’ Pastels $24.95
102283 VersaMark Pad $7.50
102892 Sponge Daubers (12) $10.95
Stamp Set of your Choice (Bold sets work the best)

Freewheeling Friday 1-30-09

I love to make gifts when ever I have a chance.  I also love to make the package for them.  I usually keep the supplies on hand so I can make one really fast.  I’ve used them a lot for Weddings, Showers and Baby Gifts.

gift-boxThis is a sample of the box I made to put the gift in.  I love the wheels because it is so fast to decorate the box and they look really cute.  I used.  109688 Whimsy Jumbo Wheel $8.50 for this box.  Then I just used a piece of paper from the Simply Scrapin’ Kit that I created the gift with.  You could use any Simply Scrapin’ Kit or DSP.  The one pictured here is an old one that is retired now.

The box is so easy to make.  Just decide on your size and depth then score the sides to fit.  Cut in on the score on just one side all the way around then fold and attach with mini glue dots or sticky strip.  I always make the top box 1/16 bigger so they slide together nicely.  Then the box is just finished with a belly band that slides off  to open the gift.

family-ssk-boardThis is the gift that I made to put in the box.  It is using the same Simply Scrapin’  Kit.  I’ve just cut it to fit on one of our on board book basics Large#110713 $7.95 for 4.  I love this gift because it is so easy to create and you can change it for about any occasion.  The picture part is sized perfectly for a 4×6 photo.  Then you just put it on a plate rack holder and it’s a darling picture frame with lots of character.

Stampin’ Sunday 1-4-09

wb-topAfter I finished making the little wish boxed designed by Kelly Gettelfinger the I showed you in my Marvelous Monday post on December 29th I realized I still had a lot of stuff left from my Simply Scrappin’ Kit.  So I decided so see what I could come up with.  I got the design for this from one of Patty’s posts.  So here is what I came up with.

I used the long ended envelopes to create my book.  First I sealled them the cut of the very edge to make a pocket.  Then I used my punch to punch a whole in each one to make it easy to pull out my cards.

I covered both sides of each envelope with paper.  (I didn’t have enough paper left for these so I used some that I had, same thing with the pullouts.)  I used the crop-a-dile to punch the holes in the side that I tied my ribbon through.  I used the Aspen ribbon from the mini catalog.

wb-openI think this is a great book because of all the pull outs.  It really allow you to put lots of pictures in it and it make a great gift.  I used my extra pieces from the “I wish” Simply Scrapin’ kit to decorate my book.

Remember that this great kit could be on the retired accesories list. (I won’t know for sure until tomorrow.)  So order yours today to make sure you get one.  Click here to start placing your on-line order.
