Over the years, I’ve learned that a challenge is often the motivation I need to accomplish a goal or try something I never thought I could. About 15 years ago, I decided I wanted to start walking and was invited to participate in a relay race. I remember thinking, “I’ve been walking… I can do that!” That one challenge led to 5K races, several half marathons, and eventually a Run the Year challenge that still keeps me running, jogging, or walking consistently throughout the year.
That experience taught me something I’ve seen repeated over and over again in my life: sometimes all we need is a little challenge to discover we’re capable of so much more than we imagined.
Almost two years ago, I accepted another challenge—this time to go live on Facebook every day for 21 days. Honestly, I was terrified to put myself out there. But with each live video, it became a little easier. I discovered how much I enjoyed connecting with others and sharing something I loved. I was thrilled whenever someone joined me live, and afterward I’d excitedly tell my family all about it. Before long, they started asking, “How many people joined tonight?”
That challenge eventually grew into my weekly Facebook and YouTube Live classes. Some weeks more people join than others, but that’s no longer what matters most. What matters is that I accepted the challenge, discovered a new passion, and created something I’m incredibly proud of.
That’s exactly why I created this page.
Whether you want to learn a new fun fold, try a technique you’ve never attempted, experiment with a different color combination, invite a friend to craft, mail a handmade card, enter your first creative challenge, make a special gift for someone, or even press the Go Live button for the very first time, I hope these ideas will inspire you to take that next step.
You’ll also find my Creative Journey Monthly Challenges, along with a printable tracker to help you record your progress, celebrate your accomplishments, and reflect on what you’ve learned.
