One of my favorite ways to stay inspired is by participating in creative challenges. More than anything else, they’ve helped me grow as a creator. They encourage me to step outside my comfort zone, look at products in new ways, experiment with layouts and color combinations I might never have considered, and most importantly—they get me creating. Time and time again, I’ve discovered that trying something different often changes the way I approach future projects.
I still remember one of my middle school art classes when our assignment was to draw a picture that was projected on the screen—but there was one catch. The image was upside down. At first it seemed impossible, but as I focused less on what I thought I was seeing and more on the shapes and lines in front of me, something clicked. That simple exercise taught me one of the most valuable lessons I’ve ever learned about creativity: sometimes all you need is a different perspective.
Even today, when I find myself stuck on a project, I’ll literally turn it upside down or look at it from a different angle. More often than not, it helps me see possibilities I would have missed otherwise.
That’s exactly why I love creative challenges. They encourage us to look beyond our first idea, stretch our creativity, and discover new ways of thinking. If you’ve followed me on social media or browsed my blog, you’ve probably seen many of my challenge entries. Some have become favorite projects, while others have simply introduced me to a new technique or creative approach that I continue to use today.
The wonderful thing about challenges is that there are no right or wrong answers. Everyone begins with the same inspiration, yet every project turns out completely unique. It’s one of the best reminders that creativity looks different for everyone—and that’s what makes it so much fun.

🌍 Global Design Project
The Global Design Project is my favorite challenge community and one I participate in regularly.
Each Monday a new challenge is released featuring a sketch, color combination, CASE the Designer, or creative theme. Entries are accepted through Sunday, giving you the entire week to create. You can find them on Facebook and Instagram. Be sure to follow the rules and tag them to participate.
You’ll often see these projects tagged #GDP followed by the challenge number throughout my blog and social media.
💙 Stampin’ Up! Creative Challenges
Stampin’ Up! also offers regular creative challenges featuring current products and fresh ideas.
They’re a wonderful source of inspiration whether you decide to participate or simply enjoy seeing everyone’s creations.

🎉 TGIF Challenges
TGIF Challenges release a new inspiration challenge every Friday.
Whether it’s a sketch, theme, or color challenge, they’re always a fun way to think creatively.
Entries are submitted through the TGIF Challenge blog before the weekly deadline, so be sure to read their current guidelines before participating.

🎄 A Card A Day
One of my favorite annual events is A Card A Day, hosted by my friend Kevin in a Facebook group. It’s open to anyone to join.
Twice each year—once in May and again in November with a Christmas theme—you’ll receive a new creative prompt every day of the month.
I’ve had the privilege of serving as a guest designer several times, sharing techniques and ideas with the community. It’s always an inspiring month filled with creativity and encouragement.
📚 Scrapped! Challenges (Coming This Fall)
A brand-new season of Scrapped! begins this fall, and this time we’d love for you to join us!
We’ll be sharing scrapbook challenges designed to encourage memory keeping, creativity, and community.
