Stamping Sunday 1-25-09

I had a meeting on Saturday and I was asked to demonstrate and new technique.  She explained it to me over the phone and sent me a few pictures then I had to figure it out.  This technique was so easy and I loved it.  I also love that it looks really complicated.  I debated on which category to post my samples in.  I finally decided on Stamping Sunday because I think I’m going to use this fun technique for club.  I still have a few openings so if you want to come and learn how to do this great technique come and check out club.  Click here to find out more info on club.

zoofariThe technique is called faux leather so I started to think of what kinds of things I could do that would have a leathered look.   My first thought was an alligator.  So I started playing with punches and came up with this fun alligator.  Then the page just developed from that.  All the letters are also done with this great technique and then I cut them out using the big shot serif alphabet #113464 $149.95.  I really love how the page turned out.  I can’t wait to put some of our pictures on it from Animal Kingdom.  I used the Wild About You set #115110 $25.95.  The paper is #112164 Chocolate Chip Patterns DSP $9.95 and #112160 Old Olive Patterns DSP $9.95.

leather-purseThe project that was shown to me was a purse so this is what I came up with.  Once again I used the big shot and this time I used the top note die #113463 $21.95.  The basic purse is made with 2 dies and the top is done with the faux leather and then folded over.  I used the awesome Filigree Designer Brads #112577 $5.95 to dress it up a bit and give it the girly girl look.  Underneath the brad is a piece of Velcro so it’s easy to open.  I stamped on it with Doodle This #114954 $33.95 and used Tombow Glue #110755 $3.95 to apply Dazzling Diamonds glitter #102023 $4.50 to give it a little sparkle.  The butterfly is from the set Dreams du Jour #111624 $18.95.  It’s wings are also touched with glitter.  I filled a cellophane bag with chocolates so it makes a great gift for any girl.

mama-baby-elephantMy last project was these fun elephants.  I got the idea from one of my favorite blogs Inking Idaho.  If you want to check out the actual post you can click here.  I believe it was idea from several other talented demonstrators.  I believe the name of the talented person that came up with this darling nugget box is Kelly Sampson.  I followed some of the links and found her website.  She has a whole family of these great critters.  You can check it out by clicking here.  They are designed to hold a little chocolate nugget.

January Club sneak peak

thank-you-flowersHere is a sneak peak of one of the cards we will be doing at club this month.  Remember club is switched to January 21st this month because I will be out of town.

If you have never tried club you can check it out for FREE.  Just let me know that you are coming and if you want scrapbook or cards.  We would love to see you there.

huges-kisses Here is a card I made using the technique from last month (rolling with the punches) .  I used the new heart to heart punch and hugs and kisses set in the Valentines pack.  I just love this Valentines pack.  I can’t wait to see the new catalog.

Thrifty Thursday 1-1-09

Wow I can’t believe it’s a new year already.  I hope that all of you had a great holiday and that your new year is full of blessings.  To start of the new year I decided to show a very versatile stamp set.  This one is on my wish list especially after making these cards at Brandi’s meeting.  I think they were created by Ashley Vancamp, but I’m not positive.  If anyone knows please let me know so I can give her proper credit.

Post update- Thanks Megan she did confirm that the’s cute cards were made by Ashley.

best-wishes-stamp-set1The set is Best Wishes & More #111602 for $26.95.  You can find it in the current catalog on page 55.  This set is a great  value because each of the 5 images can represent different seasons or be used for just a general card.  I love it because it also comes with sayings which adds extra value.  You can create so many different types of cards and projects with just one set.

without-you-leavesThis card is a really great one just to let someone know how much you appreciate them.  It uses the Hawaii Papaya DSP #112460 for $9.95.

I also love designer series papers because they give you a color pallet.  You can see on the couldn’t do card it was so easy to choose the colors.  She just matched the Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip and Tangerine Tango that was in the paper.

If you ever wonder which colors are in the paper they are listed in the description.  Sometimes I am surprised at a color combination that I find in a set of designer series papers.  I probably would have never thought to put them together that way, but they always look great.  If you are struggling for an color pallet just give one of these papers a try.

ready-set-snowI really love the ready set snow card.  We put glitter on the snowflakes so it sparkles. I believe this card uses the Junior Varsity DSP #112458.

Our designer series papers are also a great value.  They are double sided so you get lots of verisitily.  When making cards one package goes along way.

They are also great for scrapbooks because all you need is a little bit to add the extra touch any page would need.

As a special bonus for reading my blog let me know that you saw this when you place your order and I will give you this great set for just $24.26 (plus tax & shipping), or any designer series paper for just $8.95 (plus tax & shipping).  Just let me know you want the Thrifty Thursday special.  Hope you have a great day and give this awesome set a try.  Click here to place your on-line order.

Rolling with the Punches

This is the technique my club member learned last week.  You will be able to see more samples in the club page.  I got this technique from Laura Fredrickson you can see her complete tutorial by clicking here.  I had a lot of fun with and thought it was a great technique.  I actually found it months ago and have been waiting for Christmas to show it.  The basic technique is to use your punches to make a template then roll your wheel over the template so you only get part of your images.    Then you can trace around them or use sponge daubers to fill them in.  If you want to see the step by step instructions you can check out Laura’s site.  Here is just one of the fun cards we made.  Be sure to check out the other card and Scrapbook pages under clubs.dec-card-1-moose
