Thrifty Thursday 3-12-09

We really had fun at club last night doing these great projects using the Circle Cutter. I decided that it was a good one for Thrifty Thursday because the circle cutter can really save you a lot of money. I cuts circles from I think one inch up to 6″ and anywhere in-between. I also love that it cuts rings. I have seen fun papers made with circles and I love that now I can create my own in any color combination that I want. I also love the texture that it adds.

Now I will be honest the circle cutter does take a little practice as they quickly found out at club. However once you get it down I think you will love it as much as I do. It is so smooth and fast. I’ve really enjoyed playing with it and I’m sure I will enjoy it for many years to come. Right now is the perfect time to get this great product because when you by the cutter and the mat plus replacement blades it puts you over $50.00 so you can get a sale-a-bration set. This item has been on back order so you may not be able to order it on-line, however you can place an order through me. I really love how I could use the punches to work with the circle cutter. On this card I punched out the Congratulations (from the new spring mini). I also punched the Chocolate Chip and Old Olive back ground papers. Then I used the circle cutter for the larger Cameo Coral circle.

We also focused on texture on the projects. The Old Olive papers are all textured card-stock. On many of the Chocolate Chip papers we ran them through the big shot using the circle texture plates. It’s hard to see but it really adds to the pages and card.

Wacky Wednesday 3-11-09

So you are probably wondering why these fun cards are featured under Wacky Wednesday. Well it’s really pretty simple. When I was looking at these cards and trying to decide where to put them I realized that I had forgotten to post my projects of the month.

These cute cards match the projects perfectly. I will hopefully get them posted later today. So I figured I was a little Wacky and running behind as usual.

Since I leave on the 20th and I’m getting a late start on getting out my monthly projects I decided two things. First I’m going to extend the deadline for this month (see more info with the projects) and 2nd I’m going to give the products to make these to cards with any kit that is ordered before the end of the month. Both of these cards were ones we made at our shoebox swap a few weeks ago. I’m not sure who designed the one with the rectangle but I know the circle one was by my awesome up-line Janice Barlow. I think they are both really cute. I love that they both used a different color of yellow and it works great with the DSP.

Technique Tuesday 3-10-09

For club we are using the new circle cutter and the textured dies for the big shot. I really wanted to showcase this texture die because it’s the new Manhattan Die and it’s finally available. I saw this die at leadership and fell in love with it. It is so pretty and I love how defined it is. This is definitely not a subtle effect.

To make this card we first cut out a large circle with the circle cutter. I cut out a 5″ circle I think. We used a 4 1/2″ at club but it was harder to cut off the top and bottom for the same effect of the card. Then we ran the die through the big shot. I love how fast and easy it is to create such a beautiful texture.

To finish the card I just stamped the Congratulations from the Sale-A-Bration set and added some ribbon. Remember that March 31st is the last day for Sale-A-Brationorders. I will be leaving for Hawaii on the 20th so all orders must be to me by the 19th or you can place an order on-line through my website.

Swapping Saturday 3-7-09

I received this card in a swap as well and have always loved it. Sorry I don’t know who created it.

I really wish that you could see it better but the flower in the center is covered with glitter and it just really sparkles. I am really drawn to the effect that is created by cutting apart the paper after is was stamped. I just really like the look of this card.

I think the flowers were colored in with a blender pen since two of them are in-colors I belive. You could also use a Aqua painter. The yellow was probably colored with a marker.

Freewheeling Friday 3-6-09

I received this cute card at convention. I was created by D. Waterman (I think that was in her email address). I love how she used the word window punch to create the Popsicles. The watermelon is made by cutting the 1-1/4″ and 1-3/8″ Circle punches in 1/2.

I really love how she kept the wheel part simple and just rolled it across in the middle. She also rolled the background of the white part with a different roller. This is just a fun summer card. I think it would also be a cute accent on a scrapbookpage.

Technique Tuesday 3-3-09

Let me introduce you to a fun friend of my that most people forget about. I have to admit I forget about him all the time to. Then I saw a post on a blog that reminded me of this great friend and tool. His name is Mr. Crimper and he really does a wonderful job. He is so easy to use and can sometimes add just the right touch to a project. All you do is put the paper in squeeze the handle and turn the knob. If you want just the center then put the paper part way through and only turn a few turns then release. It’s that easy. If you would like to try out this fun tool just give me a call and we can set up a workshop for you and your friends 435-245-5321.

I picked these two cards because I love how they used the crimper to crimp just a part of the card.

This card was created by my awesome up-line Janice Barlow. We made it at Brandi’s Meeting. I think it’s fun how we crimped just a part of the bottom when it ties into the slit not punch. If you want an easy way to line up the butterflies be sure to try the Stamp-a-ma-jig®.

This card was created by my new Leadership friend “B” Schreiber from Oregon. I really love how she crimped in the middle of the paper to add just that extra touch. I saw a card where they used this same set and crimped the beehive after stamping it. It was very effective and cute. I was created by Melanine Williams in our group.

Another fun way to use the crimper is to crimp a sheet and then cut it up to use as filling in a basket or box. You can use a paper cutter or I just bought a really cheep paper shredder from Walmart. You want the kind that just does long cuts and now double cutting. Then I just crumple them all up before I put them in the basket so that the go every which way. I love this quick and easy technique.
