Stampin’ Sunday 3-8-09

smile-mirrorI was watching some of the wonderful training video’s on the demonstrator site the other day and I came across one by Linda Hansen.  She is one of the wonderful presenters at Stampin’ Up!®  She was demonstrating using the blank vinyl with the big shot.  She made a mirror with her name on it so I just had to give it a try.

Her name is spelled with and I and I loved how she put the flower over the I.  I chose the word smile beacause everyone should remember to smile and because it had an I in it.

smile-mirror-closeOne of the cool techniques she showed was embossing on the vinyl.  She used Craft ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  She even stamped right on it and embossed it so that it would have a fun pattern.  I think this would be fun to try on some of our great patterns as well as the raw vinyl.  You can check out more of our Dècor Elements line by clicking here.

Stampin’ Sunday 1-18-09

They have announced the Artisan Award Contest again so I’ve been thinking a lot about what I wanted to do.  This is a contest for any demonstrator who just wants to show off her stuff.  I like this contest because it’s based solely on your creativity so it’s great for anyone who got into Stampin’ Up! because they love to create and they aren’t working it as a business, but it’s also great for people like me who works the business and sometimes needs a little push to get the creative juices flowing.

bugs-kisses-closedI have entered this contest every year since they started it.  This will be my third year.  I haven’t one yet, but I have had several of my items featured on the demonstrator website as well as at Convention.  I love seeing my things displayed and I love knowing that they liked something I did.

So for this Swapping Sunday I though I would share the projects I made for the last 2 years.  I can’t share this year’s with you until after the contest (because of the rules.)  But i figured I could share the old ones with you.  Although some of the product is retired now I thought they still might inspire you.

two-by-twoI have shown just a few of the samples here but you can click here to see all of them.

I love to have new ornaments for my tree, but I can’t always afford to by them.  I actually love to make them.  I made these fun Rudolph Ornaments for my tree last year.  They were quick and easy and didn’t cost a lot to make.  roudolph-ornament

It is made with all punches.  I used: large oval, word window, five petal flower, horizontal slot, double circle and  1″ circle.  I used the coluzzle for the background circle.  His nose is made with a rhinestone circle brad.  Then a little ribbon for the holder and a bow at the neck.  I got the idea from a card that someone had posted on the Stampin’ Up! demonstrator web site last year.  They had it on a card.  If I can find my card I will post it for you as well.

Wacky Wednesday 12-24-08

merry-christmas-ornamentThese are some of the last minute Christmas decorations I made for my tree.  I actually made them on Christmas Eve.  I waited to put most of the glass ornaments on until the last minute so that Xander (my one year old) wouldn’t get a hold of them.

They were really easy to make I just used the rub-on’s on the clear glass balls.  I found that the smaller ones and the long ones were a lot easier to do.  I did a couple of square sayings and they were difficult to get on without overlapping.

Freewheeling Friday 12-19-08

I was going through some of my Holiday Decorations and discovered these two great frames I made last year.   I thought I would share them with you today since the background was so simple to make.  I just used the Versa Mark with our Bold Snowflakes Jumbo Wheel.  f-noel-frame

I know it’s really hard to see but it looks great in person.  I’ve added a close up shot so hopfully you will be able to see the effect.  The are really fun to put out for the holidays.  f-holiday-frame-close

I really like the big one because I can change out the picture when I want to.f-holiday-frame
