Easy Winter Craft: Faux Buffalo Check Cards

Nothing says cozy winter crafting like a Buffalo Check background! ❄️
This week’s Make It With Me Monday was all about creating a faux Buffalo Check look using simple supplies and a few easy steps. I made this fun card for the Christmas Card Challenges — and I absolutely love how the faux Buffalo Check background turned out. It’s the perfect background technique for all your winter projects— warm, rustic, and so fun to make!! 🖤❤️

To create your own faux Buffalo Check background, you’ll need:

  • 🟥 A piece of red or white cardstock
  • ⬛ A black ink pad
  • 🖌️ A blending brush
  • 📄 Masking paper
  • ✨ Your favorite stamps and embellishments

I used the Weekend Adventure stamp set to finish my project — it pairs perfectly with this pattern for a fun, outdoorsy feel.

🎨 Why I Love This Technique

What makes this background so special? It’s easy, adaptable, and looks like patterned paper — without ever having to cut into your DSP stash! You can switch up the colors, change the ink intensity, or even try it in non-traditional combos for Valentine’s or spring cards.

New Stampin’ Events

I’m so excited to introduce my new line of Stampin’ Events. These will be a blended event so I hope you will enjoy this new format.

There will be several different types of events that you can participate in. Here’s a quick list. Click on any for more details. The events will be held online every month on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm mountain time. They will be held as a private Facebook Live event. I will also post them on a private YouTube account. This means that only those who purchase will be able to access them. Check out each event to find out how to purchase. Many of you may have seen posts on Facebook recently with the hashtag #‎imbringingbirthdaysback‬ . I’m excited to join in this fun movement and hope you will join it with me.  First for those of you who don’t know the movement: bringing back a card in the mail rather than just a text or greeting on Facebook, while those are great it’s so nice to get a card in the mail.

It’s My Party -Birthday Card Class

This is a one sheet wonder class where you will use the amazing papers in the the “It’s my party Designer Series Paper Stack.” You’ll use one sheet to make these 12 amazing cards.  (Note picture shows 2 different papers so you can see that the design works with both the light and dark colors in the paper stack.)  You’ll have enough paper to create 8 sets and still have more designer paper left

As a bonus you will also get the materials to make this darling box.  If you have January’s Paper Pumpkin it works great to add the months of the year.  We also offer several month sets if you need one or write on them yourself whatever works best for you.
