birthday-wishes-cardThis was a fun card that I made for swaps last year.  This card used all the fun in-colors from last year.  I believe they were Purely Pomegranate, Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi,  and Soft Sky.  This is a fun masking technique.  I also used watercolor for the presents.  The tag was done using glossy white paper.  I stamped in VersaMark® and then embossed it.  Then I used the brayer to roll color over the top of it.  The back ground was just using a simple roller.  I love using rollers for backgrounds because they are fast and easy.

Thrifty Thursday 3-12-09

We really had fun at club last night doing these great projects using the Circle Cutter.  I decided that it was a good one for Thrifty Thursday because the circle cutter can really save you a lot of money.  I cuts circles from I think one inch up to 6″ and anywhere in-between.  I also love that it cuts rings.  I have seen fun papers made with circles and I love that now I can create my own in any color combination that I want.  I also love the texture that it adds.

march-09-club-pagesNow I will be honest the circle cutter does take a little practice as they quickly found out at club.  However once you get it down I think you will love it as much as I do.  It is so smooth and fast.  I’ve really enjoyed playing with it and I’m sure I will enjoy it for many years to come.  Right now is the perfect time to get this great product because when you by the cutter and the mat plus replacement blades it puts you over $50.00 so you can get a sale-a-bration set.  This item has been on back order so you may not be able to order it on-line, however you can place an order through me.  Be sure to get your orders in early as I leave on the 20th and won’t be back until the 30th.

congrats-march-club-1I really love how I could use the punches to work with the circle cutter.  On this card I punched out the Congratulations (from the new spring mini).  I also punched the Chocolate Chip and Old Olive back ground papers.  Then I used the circle cutter for the larger Cameo Coral circle.

We also focused on texture on the projects.  The Old Olive papers are all textured card-stock.  On many of the Chocolate Chip papers we ran them through the big shot using the circle texture plates.  It’s hard to see but it really adds to the pages and card.

Wacky Wednesday 3-11-09

So you are probably wondering why these fun cards are featured under Wacky Wednesday.  Well it’s really pretty simple.  When I was looking at these cards and trying to decide where to put them I realized that I had forgotten to post my projects of the month.

good-friend-cardThese cute cards match the projects perfectly.  I will hopefully get them posted later today.  So I figured I was a little Wacky and running behind as usual.

Since I leave on the 20th and I’m getting a late start on getting out my monthly projects I decided two things.  First I’m going to extend the deadline for this month (see more info with the projects) and 2nd I’m going to give the products to make these to cards with any kit that is ordered before the end of the month.  You can email me at andersoncandice@hotmail.com or call me at 435-245-5321.  Click here to see the projects.

good-friend-circle-cardBoth of these cards were ones we made at our shoebox swap a few weeks ago.  I’m not sure who designed the one with the rectangle but I know the circle one was by my awesome up-line Janice Barlow.  I think they are both really cute.  I love that they both used a different color of yellow and it works great with the DSP.

Technique Tuesday 3-10-09

For club we are using the new circle cutter and the textured dies for the big shot.  I really wanted to showcase this texture die because it’s the new Manhattan Die and it’s finally available.  I saw this die at leadership and fell in love with it.  It is so pretty and I love how defined it is.  This is definitely not a subtle effect.

manhattan-march-club-cardTo make this card we first cut out a large circle with the circle cutter.  I cut out a 5″ circle I think.  We used a 4 1/2″ at club but it was harder to cut off the top and bottom for the same effect of the card.  Then we ran the die through the big shot.  I love how fast and easy it is to create such a beautiful texture.

To finish the card I just stamped the Congratulations from the Sale-A-Bration set and added some ribbon.  Remember that March 31st is the last day for Sale-A-Brationorders.  You receive on set with every $50.00 you spend and there is no limit.  I will be leaving for Hawaii on the 20th so all orders must be to me by the 19th or you can place an order on-line through my website.

Marvelous Monday 3-9-09

My Sister and I had a Game Night Friday night.  She sales Simply Fun which fun family games.  We thought it would be fun to use the new game night stamps and have a combo party.  If you would be interested in more information about her games you can check out her website at www.brigetudy.simplyfun.com.

game-night-folder-closedI wanted to create a fun project that would go along with the theme.  I found this folder created by Wendy Knowles in our awesome group.  I decided to give it a try.  Her project was all covered with the DSP, but I didn’t have enough so I decided to try it with paper that I stamped on.  She covered a file folder.

game-night-folder-openI found that this was a little more difficult with the solid paper verses the DSP and it was hard to fold and not have it bubble.  I still think that it turned out cute, but was more time consuming than I wanted for the party so I decided I needed to simplify.

game-night-scores-closedThis is the project I came up with.  It is really quite fast and easy.  It’s just one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper folded around the note pad.  Then I added the DSP and some stamped paper.  I still added the cute black strip in the front like she had.  I used a crimped paper inbetween to give it a little more texture.  I decided I didn’t want to tie the bow everytime we used it so I put the stampin’ demimentionals  on the bottom part of the black tag only so I could slide the ribbon off the top.

game-night-scores-openInside Wendy had attached the notebook with sticky strip but I wanted to be able to replace it with out tearing my book so I decided to put a strip of DSP all the way across.  I only glued it down on one side.  Where the note book is I placed it in-between the card board back and the last sheet of paper.  Then I put sticky strip on each side of it.  This way I cold slip the note book out and put a new one in.

We love to play games with my family and I really loved having a way to keep score.  There is a little ribbon loop on the front that you can keep a pencil in.  This way we can keep this with all the games and then when we want to play we don’t have to find a notebook a paper.  Sometimes it’s also fun to see who won last time so it’s nice to have it all in one place.

Stampin’ Sunday 3-8-09

smile-mirrorI was watching some of the wonderful training video’s on the demonstrator site the other day and I came across one by Linda Hansen.  She is one of the wonderful presenters at Stampin’ Up!®  She was demonstrating using the blank vinyl with the big shot.  She made a mirror with her name on it so I just had to give it a try.

Her name is spelled with and I and I loved how she put the flower over the I.  I chose the word smile beacause everyone should remember to smile and because it had an I in it.

smile-mirror-closeOne of the cool techniques she showed was embossing on the vinyl.  She used Craft ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  She even stamped right on it and embossed it so that it would have a fun pattern.  I think this would be fun to try on some of our great patterns as well as the raw vinyl.  You can check out more of our Dècor Elements line by clicking here.
