Freewheeling Friday 1-16-09

Here is another great card from Brandi’s meeting. Once again I really wish I knew who made it. I want to say that it was Chantia, but I could be wrong. I do need to redeem myself a little here. I had a display at the meeting so between setting it up and asking questions I really didn’t get to look at the swaps people were giving me. Otherwise I would probably know who gave them to me. At least I might know some of them. Please if anyone does know I’d love some help to give them proper credit.

Anyway I just love this card. It uses the cupcake wheel. I love the picture because you can actually see the sparkle on it. I believe she used dazzling diamonds glitter.

This is a really fun wheel because it’s a line image instead of a bold image like alot of the wheels. Which allows you to color it and really make it your own. This is a really simple card but I think it’s so cute and she did a great job.

Stamping Sunday 1-11-09

I made this card for a swap and decided not to use it. I was actually kind of sad to see that Moose you was being retired. So since I can’t use it in a swap now I decided I would share it with you.

I was going to tell you where my inspiration for the card came from, but I just spend a 1/2 and hour looking through my old catalogs and couldn’t find it. Thrifty Thursday 1-8-09

This is the Birthday card that I made for our Stampin’ Up! Birthday Celebration. I decided to use it for Thrifty Thursday because it is so easy to make and the style allows you to use all the paper in the DSP pack.

I have used the Rainbow Sherbet #112471. Not only does this paper sound yummy, but it is just so cute. This card is very versital and can be used for either a boy or a girl.

The basic card is made with Apricot Appeal. Then I used Gable Green behind the DSP. I used Tempting Turquoise for the scallop and the 1/4″ ribbon then top off the ribbon with Apricot Appeal 1 /4″ grosgrain ribbon.

My Scallop is actually a special embosslit die that said 20 years. It is to celebrate Stampin’ Up! 20 years in business this year. However you could use the scallop circle punch. I covered it with a tag from the deer friends hostess set and punched it out with our 1 3/8 circle punch to create a beautiful layered look. I didn’t want the tag to be stamped in just one color so I use our Stampin’ Markers to color directly onto the Stamp.

I finished the card by stamping happy birthday for the Bitty Birthday set #110994 for $12.95. Because the tag just says a little something you could leave off the Birthday stamp or stamp it with a variety of other stamps for almost any occasion.

So between the versatile saying and being able to use all the designer series paper on just one card lay out I think this card is very thrifty

January Club sneak peak

Here is a sneak peak of one of the cards we will be doing at club this month. Remember club is switched to January 21st this month because I will be out of town.

Here is a card I made using the technique from last month (rolling with the punches) . I used the new heart to heart punch and hugs and kisses set in the Valentines pack. I just love this Valentines pack. I can’t wait to see the new catalog.

Technique Tuesday 1-6-09

Sponge Daubers

This technique is fairly simple but I love it. It works best with a bold image like this one: Upsy Daisy set #1111710 for $18.95. This was another card from Brandi’s Card night at her meeting. Once again I don’t know the Creator but I love the card. I created a similar one for club. You can check it out by clicking here.

First you want to choose to complimentary colors to create your image. Here we have chosen Baja Brezze and Pacific Point.

Next you want to stamp your whole stamp in the lighter color. Here it would be Baja Brezze.

Then ink up your sponge dauber with the darker ink, Pacific Point in our example. Use the sponge dauber to ink just the tops of the flowers. Just touch it lightly to th tops. This give the flowers color and dimension.

Last stamp your image onto your paper. One of the fun parts of this technique is that every card is truly different. If your stamp colors are close like these two there is usually no need to clean your stamp in between if you are stamping multiple cards.

This card is finished by applying Kiwi Kiss ink to the edges of the top note paper and adding the Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Satin ribbon along with the Maine Blueberry DSP.

Swapping Saturday 1-3-09

I have to show the pirate set one more time before it’s retired. I received this card at Regional’s I think two years ago and I still love it. I love how it opens up to revile the whole message. It was created by Christy Christiansen from St. George Utah. I will have to say that this is still one of my favorite swaps.

She used a 3×6 sheet for the back ground so it fits in our open ended envelops and then she used a sheet of 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 for the card. She scored it at 2 3/4 for the bottom and middle section then tore the top edge so that when it fold over it is just slightly smaller.

She punched a whole in the top layer for the Ahoy Matey and then placed the layered words on the middle layer.

When you open it all the way you can see the message inside. I believe it was the retired birthday set from the old catalog, but you could use almost any set.
