🌟 Day 4 – A Creative Challenge: Nativity Night Meets Stocking Surprise

Today’s Christmas Card Challenge really pushed me to get creative! I wanted to see if I could combine two completely different themes into one cohesive design β€” and I love how it turned out.

✨ #ACardADayInNovember2025 – Nativity Night – peaceful starry sky, manger scene, or β€œO Holy Night”
🧦 #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge – Stocking SurpriseHanging stockings or hidden treats.

I’ve been wanting to create a window card using the Arch Dies, and this felt like the perfect opportunity. My goal was to design a card that tells a story β€” looking out the window, you see a peaceful nativity scene, while inside there’s a warm, cozy holiday setting complete with stockings hung and ready for Christmas morning.

This project reminded me how much I love finding ways to blend techniques and themes. Sometimes the best ideas come when you push yourself just a little outside your comfort zone. πŸ’–

✨ Supplies & Details

This card took a little extra creativity β€” and a lot of wonderful products! I loved mixing and matching textures, colors, and dies to bring this cozy Christmas window scene to life. Here are the main supplies I used:

πŸͺž Dies & Embellishments:

πŸ–ŒοΈ Tools & Coloring:

🎨 Ink Colors:

  • Balmy Blue
  • Early Espresso
  • Old Olive
  • Mossy Meadow

I loved how these products worked together to create depth, warmth, and sparkle β€” from the soft shimmer of the glimmer paper and ribbon to the textured brick background and peaceful glow behind the window.

Easy Winter Craft: Faux Buffalo Check Cards

Nothing says cozy winter crafting like a Buffalo Check background! ❄️
This week’s Make It With Me Monday was all about creating a faux Buffalo Check look using simple supplies and a few easy steps. I made this fun card for the Christmas Card Challenges β€” and I absolutely love how the faux Buffalo Check background turned out. It’s the perfect background technique for all your winter projectsβ€” warm, rustic, and so fun to make!! πŸ–€β€οΈ

To create your own faux Buffalo Check background, you’ll need:

  • πŸŸ₯ A piece of red or white cardstock
  • ⬛ A black ink pad
  • πŸ–ŒοΈ A blending brush
  • πŸ“„ Masking paper
  • ✨ Your favorite stamps and embellishments

I used the Weekend Adventure stamp set to finish my project β€” it pairs perfectly with this pattern for a fun, outdoorsy feel.

πŸŽ„βœ¨ Be sure to follow along to see all my creations for the Christmas Card Challenge!

Today’s cards are for Day 3 featuring:
🎨 #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge – Sketch Challenge #1
β˜• #ACardADayInNovember2025 – Warm & Cozy Christmas

Think cozy cocoa mugs, snuggly sweaters, cute mittens, and classic Buffalo Check patterns β€” the perfect ingredients for a warm holiday vibe. β€οΈπŸ’š

β˜• This or That: Whipped Cream or Marshmallows?

Since this card has such a cozy winter vibe, I had to ask… what’s your favorite topping for a warm cup of cocoa? Tell me in the comments β€” Team Whipped Cream or Team Marshmallows? β˜•οΈπŸ«

Watch the Replay Here:

🎨 Why I Love This Technique

What makes this background so special? It’s easy, adaptable, and looks like patterned paper β€” without ever having to cut into your DSP stash! You can switch up the colors, change the ink intensity, or even try it in non-traditional combos for Valentine’s or spring cards.

πŸ’Œ Additional Samples

I couldn’t stop at just one! Here are a few extra samples I created using this same technique. Each card shows just how versatile this background can be β€” from rustic holiday designs to cozy winter greetings.

Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit Fun

I had a wonderful time at Stampin’ Up! Convention and I will be posting fun news and pictures about it soon.Β  But first I wanted to share with you the project I’ve been working on today.Β  At Convention I attended a specialty class where we were able to play with the new Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit. I loved this class and getting to work with the watercolor projects.Β  I came home and just had to finish all the cute cards.Β  Now while I can’t show you the cute Card Kit or Stamp set yet I can share with you the finished project which is way better anyway right?

So here’s what I came with.Β  The kit comes with enough stuff to make 5 each of 4 different designs, however I didn’t want the same cards so I decided to see what else I could make with it.Β  As you can see there is so much you can do with this kit and I still have stuff left over.

Water Color Winter Cards

So I thought I would showcase up close one of my favorites.Β  It’s kind of hard to see but the white has a fun would texture background.Β  Just so you know all these cards were created using just what comes in the kit along with adhesive and ink.Β  The stamp set is sold separately as well it’s called Watercolor Winter Too.Β  I’m entering this one in Stampin’ Up!’s contest.Β  Please do me a favor and help me win by going here and liking and pining my card.

Fun Christmas Picture Ornament

I’m serving in our ward nursery and we wanted to make a cute gift that the kids could give their parents for Christmas.Β  My daughter just happens to be one of our cute nursery kids.Β  The ornament turned out so cute that I just had to share them with you.

20140110_162844

First this is the front with the darling picture of my daughter.Β  Thanks to technology it was easy to take pictures of the kids with my phone each week.Β  Then I used My Digital Studio to get them the perfect size and to change them all to sepia to match the ornaments better.

I used the scallop circle die to cut out a piece of card board (Of course I had plenty from the back of our great products.Β  I save all of them they are so great for many projects.)Β  I covered the chipboard with a piece of Old Olive paper cut out with the scallop circle die and embossed with the pedals of plenty embossing folder.Β  The chocolate chip background and the picture were cut out using the circle thinlits.Β  I finished it off with the fun thinlit Merry.Β  (Just a tip if you use wax paper.Β  Wax side towards the paper.Β  The paper will come out nice and easy without tearing.)20140110_162907

This is the cute back side.Β  We had each child stamp their hand print and we added a name a date.Β  I even made a few with pictures of Jesus in case we had a few visitors.Β  (So glad I did since we had 2.)Β  The parents loved them.Β  I love how it looks I my tree.

20140110_174617

I finished it off by making custom sized envelopes with our Envelope punch board.Β  We had the kids color them to make them extra special.Β  Then we tied them shut with a quick ribbon and added a tag.Β  I love love love the new scalloped tag topper punch in the occasions mini.Β  It made it so easy to add Christmas tags to these and all my Christmas presents.Β  (Just a note the stamp set is an old Christmas tag set the I love to use every year.Β  It makes tags so easy and I never run out.)

Personally I love having ornament that are pictures of my kids.Β  It’s so fun to get them out as see them every year.Β  Hopefully you are inspired to make a cute ornament for your tree next year using some of our great products mixed with your imagination.
