April Club- Just Beachy

April '09 FishThis post is a little late, but I thought you would like to see the fun projects we did for club in April.  I featured the fun Just Beachy set from the mini catalog and showed them how to do the cracked Glass technique.  I love this technique it looks so cool and is actually really easy to do.I got this fun idea from Kelly.  You can check out her blog here:   http://stampinparadise.blogspot.com.  I changed it a bit.

April '09 Fish Close UpI thought if you are really different than maybe you would be a different color.  I don’t know if you noticed it but this fish is the only one in the set that goes the other way.  Here is a close up of the cracked glass.

April '09 BeachHere is the scrapbook page that I came up with using the card as my inspiration.  I love how simple it is, but it has just a fun summer feel.  We colored the fish with the watercolor wonder crayons and a aqua painter.

April '09 B-dayThis is the second card that my card group made.  I totally cased it from a blog, I tried to find it again so I could tell you who, but I couldn’t.  I changed the saying in the center, but the rest is basically like hers.  I thought it was a really cute card.  The size is actually 5×5 go go in our 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 envelops.  The fish are punched out with the 1 1/4″ Square Punch and then sponged with the pacific point.

April '09 B-day InsideWe stamped Happy Birthday from the $10.00 and under page on the inside.  Of course we used Whisper White craft in so that it would show up.

Matchbox Thank You BoxesSince I had also just got the Matchbox die of course we had to try that out as well.  Here is our fun projects using the match box die and the designer series paper from the mini catalog Walk in the Park.

Technique Tuesday 3-24-09

birthday-flowers-heat-stickThis is the swap that Brandi made for her meeting.  I really love how she used heat and stick powder to make the flowers sparkle.

Heat and stick powder is really quite easy to use.  If you have ever heat embossed than you know how to use heat and stick powder you just need to add two more steps.

First you need to stamp your image.  If you are using the dazzling diamonds heat and stick like on this card then you would want to stamp with a craft ink pad so that it stays sticky.

Next you need to pour on the heat and stick powder just like you would embossing powder.  Be sure to use the powder pals for easy clean up and to be able to put your left overs back in the bottle.  Once you’ve covered your project shake off the excess and tap the back to make sure you have removed all the extra powder.

Now you are ready to heat the powder.  Just heat it up with your heat gun.  You will see it start to melt just like you do with the embossing powder.

Once you have melted the heat and stick powder you are ready for your glitter.  Simply sprinkle the glitter over the heat and stick powder.  Use a another powder pal for this.

After you have applied the glitter re-heat the image for a few seconds just to set the heat and stick powered.

That’s it your done.  You’ve added a fun sparkle to your stamped image.  I encourage you to give it a try today.

Marvelous Monday 3-23-09

When every we go to meetings we usually get to make fun projects and Brandi’s meeting was no exception.  We made this fun Passion Frame.live-with-passion-sign

It was really pretty easy to make.  The back is made with our small on board book basics to give it plenty of structure.  This would make a fun gift for a friend or neighbor.  I used this layout idea for the front cover of my paper bag scrapbook.  One of the things I love about this is how we tied the ribbon.  We folded the ribbon in half then pushed the folded end through and pulled the ends through the loop we pushed through.  Then we tied the loose ends together at the top.  I like the nice finished look that it adds.
