🎄Quick & Cute: A Pop-Up Gift Card Holder Anyone Will Love

Merry Christmas! 🎄

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday filled with special moments spent with family and friends. 💛

For my Monday Live, I shared an easy pop-up gift card holder that’s perfect for those last-minute gifts—or for anyone who’s just hard to buy for. I also featured this month’s Product of the Month, the True Blue Florals Designer Series Paper (#167970). You can grab this gorgeous paper for just $5 with a $75 purchase—such a great deal!

I chose to give my project a Christmas feel by using a few holiday sentiments, but this card design and layout work beautifully for any occasion. Simply swap out the greeting and embellishments, and you’re good to go.

During the live, I promised I’d share all the measurements so you can recreate this project at home—so let’s dive in!

Card Front Measurements & Supplies

A collection of patterned papers in shades of blue and purple, with a completed card featuring layered leaves and a sentiment that reads 'Tis the Season'.
  • Card Base:
    • Balmy Blue Cardstock – 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ (scored at 4-1/4″)
  • Card Front Layers:
    • True Blue Florals DSP – 5-1/4″ x 4″
    • Balmy Blue Cardstock – 5-1/4″ x 4″
      • Embossed with Lovely Striped Embossing Folder (#167179 – available in January)
  • Die Cuts:
    • Leaves cut from Balmy Blue Cardstock and Vellum (#167099)
    • Dies: Nature’s Symphony Dies (#166925 – available in January)
  • Tag:
    • Basic White – 2-1/2″ x 1-1/4″, cut into a tag
    • Stamped with Ornamental Christmas (#165991) in Night of Navy
    • Mat: Balmy Blue – 2-1/4″ x 1-1/2″
  • Embellishments:
    • Flowers fussy-cut from DSP
    • Muted Palette Dots (#165155)
    • White Baker’s Twine (#155475)

Inside Pop-Up Gift Card Holder

  • Cardstock:
    • Two pieces of Night of Navy Cardstock – 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Scoring:
    • Score each piece at 1-1/4″
    • This creates a 1-1/4″ section and a 4″ section
  • Assembly:
    • Attach the two 1-1/4″ sections together (top and bottom) using Tear & Tape (#154031)
    • Use a circle punch to punch a small notch in the outer corner of the 1-1/4″ section
      • This makes it easier to slide the gift card in and out
  • Finishing the Inside:
    • Left side: DSP – 3-3/4″ x 5″
    • Right side: Basic White – 3-3/4″ x 5″
      • Stamp with a coordinating greeting to finish the card
      • Attach the the inside of card.
        • Just a note they are cut so the are centered leaving an 1/8″ border. This helps pull the center apart just slightly and make it easier for the gift card to slide in and out.

Final Thoughts

This card really is super easy to make, and once you’ve made one, you’ll want to make several! It’s perfect for holidays, birthdays, thank-you cards, or any time a gift card is the perfect solution.

Day 22 – A Little Bit of Festive Flora & Oh Deer!

Silly Deer Mishaps + Paper Pumpkin Fun

Today’s challenge theme brought together two fun ideas: festive flora and oh deer—and that instantly reminded me of this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit and its adorably silly deer mishaps. The original kit was designed to create cute tags and gift boxes, but you know me… I couldn’t resist turning those tags into full cards!

A layout sketch for a card-making challenge, featuring a framed design in pale pink against a light blue background.

The TGIFC551 Sketch Challenge (even though it’s finished now) was the perfect layout inspiration. I loved the balance and simplicity of the sketch, and it translated beautifully to both tag designs in the kit.

Transforming the Tag into a Card

To bring out the playful “oh deer!” vibe, I reached for one of my favorite retired sets: Cookie-Cutter Christmas (#142043) with the coordinating punch. That sweet little deer was exactly what the project needed.

I added a festive pop using the Real Red Shiny Ribbon (#165876)—a tiny bow with a big holiday statement!

For the card base, I stamped the Linen Background Stamp (#167107) to add soft texture without overwhelming the design. It really ties everything together and gives the card a more polished look.

The end result?
A fun, festive, simple-to-create card that came together quickly and still feels special and works for both the challenges.

Bonus Card!

Since I loved the layout so much, I used the second tag design from the kit to create an additional card using the same sketch. Paper Pumpkin always makes it so easy to branch out and try new ideas—whether you follow the directions as-is or grab your supplies and create something entirely different.

Uniquely Artistic

Uniquely Artistic is another stamp set that I received as a gift and wasn’t sure what to do with it. I struggled with the ideas a bit but thought that it would be the perfect set to pair with the Thanks and Hello embossing folders that are also retiring. Rather than stamping a greeting I used the Wink of Stella to highlight the word I wanted to focus on as you can see it the closer up image.

  • 158935 – Uniquely Artistic Stamp Set (R)
  • 152556 – Stacked Stone Background Stamp (R)
  • 155430 – Thanks & Hello Embossing Folder (R)
  • 104199 – Linen Thread (C)
  • 152464 – Elegant Faceted Gems (R)
  • 141897 – Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (C)
  • Colors – Crumb Cake (C), Soft Suede (R), Old Olive (C), Pear Pizzazz (R), Basic White (C)

(R) Retiring, (C) Carrying Over

I went with different colors and a slightly different look for the other embossing folder and image but kept the same basic idea of highlighting the word with the Wink of Stella. I used the trim from the online exclusives and some vellum cardstock to add depth to the flower image.

  • 158935 – Uniquely Artistic Stamp Set (R)
  • 155430 – Thanks & Hello Embossing Folder (R)
  • 155560 – Scalloped Contours Die (C)
  • 160496 – Lightly the Way Dies (M) (C)
  • 161633 – Gold and Silver 1/8″ Trim Combo Pack (O)
  • 154571 – Pastel Pearls (R)
  • 158133 – Soft Succulent 1/2″ Satin Shimmer Ribbon (R)

Happy Birthday

Did you know that today is my birthday!

Yep it is and to celebrate I wanted to share with you three different birthday card sets featuring retiring stamp sets. This first set is my favorite; however, one of the things I like about all these cards is that the layouts are mostly interchangeable. I’ve used the current In Colors on all these cards. While these colors will be around for another year, many of the accessories are not so I recommend grabbing them soon before they are gone (if they aren’t already.) There are three cards for each stamp set as there are three main images in each set. Also, each set uses the same layout but each card is twisted to show the versatility of the layouts.

Party Puffins

This set features a pocket to hold a gift card or cash for a quick and easy gift. I love how easy it is to create this pocket. I actually saw a tutorial for it on Facebook. I will work to get a video done to show you how easy it is to create this pocket. One of my favorite parts of this set of cards is the background. Even though the colors are all different the background is created the same way. I actually used a VersaMark pad and clear embossing powder rather than stamping it with the ink. This is what gives it the shine that you see. I also added shine to the penguin birthday hats using the Wink of Stella Brush.

  • 155054 – Party Puffins Stamp Set (R)
  • 158925 – Rays of Light Stamp Set (C)
  • 151770 – Layering Circles Dies (R)
  • 159200 – Sweet Sorbet 1/8″ Metallic Woven Ribbon (C)
  • 159196 – Parakeet Party 1/8″ Metallic Woven Ribbon (C)
  • 159198 – Starry Sky 1/8″ Metallic Woven Ribbon (C)
  • 159186 – 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots (R)
  • 155554 – Basics Emboss Powders, Clear (C)
  • 102283 – VersaMark Pad (C)
  • 132708 – Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (C)
  • 159219 – 2022-2024 In Color Markers (C)
  • 141897 – Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (C)
  • Colors – Sweet Sorbet (C), Parakeet Party (C), Tahitian Tide (C), Starry Sky (C), Orchid Oasis (C), Basic White (C), Basic Black (C)

(R) Retiring , (C) Carrying Over

This Birthday Piggy

I featured the In Color designer series paper for this set of cards and a design that uses a half cut front. The part that is cut off is actually scored and placed under the background paper to create the part that flips over the card you can see this in the open section. I made sure to include the greeting beneath the flipped section. I will admit that I used the dies that were available a while back to cut out the images rather than fussy cutting them. They were available on the clearance rack, but I’m not sure if they are still there.

  • 159107 – This Birthday Piggy Stamp Set (R)
  • 159253 – 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 Designer Series Paper (R)
  • 159246 – 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 Glimmer Paper (R)
  • 132708 – Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (C)
  • 159219 – 2022-2024 In Color Markers (C)
  • 154893 – Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends (C)
  • 156408 – White 3/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon (R)
  • 159186 – 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots (R)
  • Colors – Sweet Sorbet (C), Parakeet Party (C), Tahitian Tide (C), Starry Sky (C), Orchid Oasis (C), Basic White (C), Basic Black (C)

(R) Retiring , (C) Carrying Over

Elephant Parade

I got this fun idea from one of my fellow demonstrator Michelle Pepper. Again I mixed up the layout to show the same concept different ways. This stamp set doesn’t have as many stamps that work for birthday sayings so I did bring in a different stamp set for one of the sayings, but it does have other saying that you can use to create a variety of cards. I used the Wink of Stella Brush again to add sparkle to the balloons and the background is created using the In Color Glimmer paper. Just a note be sure to stamp your creating before you emboss your background to make sure you get a clear stamped image.

  • 158695 – Elephant Parade Stamp Set (R)
  • 158696 – Elephant Dies (R)
  • 158697 – Elephant Parade Bundle (R)
  • 159985 – Charming Sentiments Stamp Set (C)
  • 159246 – 2022-2024 In Color 6×6 Glimmer Paper (R)
  • 159195 – 2022-2024 In Color Baker’s Twine Pack (C)
  • 132708 – Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (C)
  • 141897 – Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (C)
  • 144608 – Color Lifter Stampin’ Blends (C)
  • 154317 – Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder (C)
  • Colors – Sweet Sorbet (C), Parakeet Party (C), Tahitian Tide (C), Starry Sky (C), Orchid Oasis (C), Basic White (C), Basic Black (C), Smoky Slate (C)

(R) Retiring , (C) Carrying Over

Curvy Snowman Card

I created this card to show case some of the products from the quite curvy bundle that is available now through January 4, 2021. The Quite Curvy Stamp Set and Curvy Dies will be in the Jan – Jun Mini catalog; however, if you want the Christmas stamp set that I’ve used or the paper you’ll want to make sure to get it before this promotion is over.

I’ve created a video with step by step instructions showing you how to use the dies to create your own card with this unique way of opening. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Please feel free to share your creations in the comments or on my Facebook Page.

For your convenience I’ve created a PDF of all the products needed to create this project. I’ve also include the PDF with all the information about the Quite Curvy Bundles and promotion. Remember you can order them on my website at www.candiceanderson.stampinup.net.

In the video I said that I would create a card with the piece that I cut out of the pool party. I’ve use the designers series paper ( #155969 for $11.50) from the Quite Curvy Bundle to complete the card. I’ve also created alternate samples using the Warm and Toasty stamp set from the current Holiday catalog. I’d love to know your thoughts. Please share in the comments which stamp set you prefer the Snowman or Warm and Toasty.

Additional products used:

Warm and Toasty stamp set (#152615 for $22.00) from the current Holiday catalog
Snowman Builder Punch (#150643 for $18.00)
Snowflake Splendor 1/4″ Ribbon (153541 for $8.00) from the current Holiday catalog
Timeless Label Punch (#149516 for $18.00)
Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (#141897 for $8.00)
