Hello Sunshine & Travel Dreams βœˆοΈπŸŒž

Did you know that today is National Shop for Travel Day?
That feels perfectly timed because my future travel plans include a Caribbean cruiseβ€”and after almost two years of planning, I’m finally down to under 100 days! πŸŽ‰

With travel on the brain, it felt only right that during my live yesterday I featured the Beach Boardwalk Suite. This collection also has a coordinating scrapbooking kit, and I can hardly wait to use it to document our trip once we return. πŸŒŠπŸ“Έ

For this project, I used the Global Design Project #GDP530 layout challenge as my starting point. I pushed myself a little out of my comfort zone and treated the layout more as inspiration rather than a strict roadmapβ€”which is definitely not my norm!

Two colorful greeting cards featuring a beach scene with palm trees, a large sun, and the text 'HEY, SUNSHINE'. The background has soft pastel colors and textured layers.

Design Inspiration & Creative Changes

Logo of the Global Design Project featuring a globe icon with a heart, accompanied by the text 'GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT' and the hashtag '#GDP530'. Below is a simple design with circular shapes in green and white, set against a light green background.

One of the main elements in the challenge layout is three circles on the side. Instead of circles, I swapped them out for three palm trees, keeping the visual balance while adding a fun tropical twist. 🌴🌴🌴

I also decided to turn this into a slimline card, which is one of my favorite formats. This size fits perfectly in a legal-size envelope, making it great for mailing or gifting.

Card Size & Base

While there are many slimline sizes, I typically make mine 8-1/2″ x 3-1/2″. I also love turning them into pocket cards for money or gift cards.

  • Card base: 8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 3-1/2″ and 7″
  • Card base color: White

Background & Layers

I cut a second piece of white cardstock to 8-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ and used my blending brushes with Strawberry Slush, Petunia Pop, and Pool Party to create a soft ombre background.

For the square focal element, I cut a piece of Beach Boardwalk DSP #166820 using the largest square from the Stylish Shapes Dies #159183 and framed it with a 3″ x 3″ piece of cardstock:

  • Card 1 frame: Strawberry Slush
  • Card 2 frame: Petunia Pop

Want to see all the steps come together?
Be sure to check out the replay from my live, where I walk you through the entire process and share extra tips along the way. πŸŽ₯✨

Stamping & Die Cutting Details

Two hand-crafted greeting cards featuring a watercolor background with pink and blue tones, silhouettes of palm trees, and a yellow sun.
  • Palm trees stamped from Boardwalk Fun Stamp Set #166822 in Petunia Pop on the DSP
  • Additional palm trees die cut in black cardstock using Boardwalk Fun Dies #166828
  • I layered two of them over the stamped palm trees to create a shadow effect.

For the sun, I used one of the stitched circle dies (third smallest) cut from white cardstock and blended Daffodil Delight and Timid Tiger for added depth β˜€οΈ.

Sand, Waves & Finishing Touches

  • Sand: Torn Crumb Cake cardstock, stamped with dots from Swirled Designs #167030 in Pecan Pie, then softly blended for dimension
  • Waves: DSP cut with Light & Wonder Dies #165762, edges highlighted with Pool Party ink

I stamped β€œHey, Sunshine” in black ink in the bottom right corner and wrapped Strawberry Slush Ribbon around the ombre background before assembling everything.

The palm trees were popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and I finished them off with a simple knot secured using Mini Glue Dots. A few Strawberry Slush & Pretty in Pink Gems #165615 added just the right amount of sparkle ✨.

Inside Pocket

A colorful greeting card design featuring palm trees and a sun, with the text 'HEY, SUNSHINE'. The card is partially open, revealing a two-dollar bill inside.

On the inside, I added a strip of DSP to the top of the 1-1/2″ folded section and used Tear & Tape on the sides to create a pocketβ€”perfect for cash or a gift card.

This bright, happy card has me so ready for warm weather and sunshine, especially while we’re still in the middle of winter β„οΈβž‘οΈβ˜€οΈ.

Day 30 – Let It Snow!

Merry Little Moments & a Snow-Kissed Finale ❄️

Wow… I can’t believe this is the end of the 30-day challenge. I’m honestly so proud of myself for participating in both challenges every single day. This month stretched me, inspired me, and filled my craft room (and heart!) with joy. Thank you for being here with me through it all!

Today’s theme was Let It Snow – Merry Little Moments, and the goal was to create an all-white card using white layers, vellum, and sparkle for a snow-kissed look. And let me tell you… this one really challenged me.

❄️ Attempt #1… and Why I Started Over

My first try used gold and some retired products, and while it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t the pure snowy look the challenge called for. So I scrapped it and decided to try again.

This time, I went looking for inspiration and came across a gorgeous design I had cased before by the wonderfully talented Melody Hyde. Her vision jump-started my creativity, and I began brainstorming ways to tweak her idea to make it my own.

πŸŽ„ A Frosty, Sparkling Design

I stamped the tree from the Ornamental Christmas Stamp Set (#165991) with white ink and embossed in white then cut with the matching Dies (#166000) I used the Perennial Postage Dies (#162607) to create a layered, textured winter scene.

Vellum Panels

I die-cut three small postage shapes from vellum, then stamped the star image from Spooky Halloween (#166192) in White Craft Ink and heat-embossed them in white.

The soft vellum + snowy embossing instantly gave the perfect frosty feel.

The BRR Message

Using the Mini Alphabet Dies (#162934), I cut out the letters BRR.
Tip: To add dimension without wrestling tiny pieces of Dimensional foam, I rolled up Mini Glue Dots to pop the letters up slightly. Perfect liftβ€”zero frustration!

I also brushed each letter with Wink of Stella for a sparkly, icy shimmer.

✨ Wink of Stella Magic

Did you know you can use Wink of Stella with the emboss resist technique?
I used it on my die-cut tree, and the sparkle settled right into the embossed design. It created the most beautiful, snowy glowβ€”subtle but magical.

πŸŽ€ Finishing Details

To complete the card:

  • I tied it together with White Baker’s Twine
  • Added Frosted Iridescent Dots (#165766) for the perfect snow-kissed sparkle
  • Kept everything in soft whites and vellum layers for that peaceful winter moment

This final project feels serene, frosty, and completely fitting for the last day of the challenge.

❀️ Reflecting on the Challenge

One of today’s prompts was to share my favorite card from the entire month… and honestly? I’m not sure I can. There were so many I loved creating for different reasons.

But my favorite part of this challenge wasn’t any single cardβ€”
it was sharing each project with you, reading your comments, and having you join me along the way. Thank you again to everyone who crafted, encouraged, watched, liked, or simply followed along.

A digital banner for a card-making challenge featuring a snowy blue background with snowflakes, text reading 'Card a Day in November! Card Making Challenge Christmas Card Edition DAY 30 Let it Snow!'

I hope you’ll continue to join me as I keep sharing what I love.
Here’s to many more Merry Little Moments together. ❄️❀️

More Samples

Don’t you hate it when you make samples intending to share them and run out of time only to have some of the products on them end up in the retired list. Well that’s what this post is all about. The stamp sets may not be retiring and you may even find some of the punches and dies aren’t either, but something on them is. Because many of the items will be carrying over I’m just going to list the stamp set or bundle, the retiring item, and the for each sample. If you would like more specifics on a sample please feel free to comment or reach out and I will be happy to share.

Irresistible Blooms Bundle

I enjoyed playing with this new bundle that is and online exclusive. I used the emboss resist technique with the water color brushes to create the flowers and leaves.

  • 161150 – Irresistible Blooms Bundle (O)
  • 159194 – Rose Gold & White 5/8″ Striped Ribbon (R)
  • 155780 – Soft Succulent 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon (R)
  • Colors – Lost Lagoon (N), Pretty Peacock (N), Flirty Flamingo (C), Soft Succulent (R), Basic White (C)
  • Colors – Smoky Slate (C), Pear Pizzazz (R), Flirty Flamingo (C), Basic White (C)

Country Bouquet Bundle

I actually got the idea for this card when I created a topper for my Christmas tree. Yes, I said Christmas tree. I’m a little weird and hate how dark it is when taking down the tree in January so instead we re-decorate it for Valentine’s day and leave it up long enough for the days to get longer again and bring in the light. I found a cool red heart for the top and wanted to add something to it so I made the center part that says love on it to attach to the side of the heart. Since the heart was hollow I added a stamped background this became the inspiration for the background for my card with the same focal point that I used on my tree topper. To add the sparkle to the strip to the background on the card I covered the entire section with clear embossing powder.

  • 160383 – Country Bouquet Bundle (R) (M)
    • Individual items will be carrying over
  • 156408 – White 3/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon (R)
  • 159190 – Heart Pearls (R)
  • 151770 – Layering Circle Dies (R)
  • Colors – Real Red (C), Garden Green (C), Blushing Bride (R), Pear Pizzazz (R), Basic White (C)

Country Gingham 6×6 DSP

I have seriously fallen in love with this DSP and though it’s leaving I’m excited that there is something similar in the new catalog. Once again I created these a while ago and never shared them. Both the stamp sets and dies are carrying over but the paper sadly is not so I wanted to share them while I could.

  • 160388 – Country Gingham 6×6 Designer Series Paper (R) (M)
  • 160383 – Country Bouquet Bundle (R) (M)
    • Individual items will be carrying over
  • 160396 – Share a Milkshake Bundle (R) (M)
    • Individual items will be carrying over
  • Colors – Mint Macaron (R), Sweet Sorbet (C), Crumb Cake (C), Petal Pink (C), Balmy Blue (C), Soft Suede (R), Basic White (C)

Enjoy the Rhythm

How fun is this card. You are probably thinking that the stamp set is what I’m listing as retiring but surprisingly that is not the case. In fact the only thing on this card that is retiring is the circle die. Although you could probably use another of the stitched circles if I remember correctly it was slightly smaller which is why I didn’t use it. As I’ve mentioned before my husband loves the color combo of purple and green and another fun thing about him is he plays the drums so once again I was inspired by him when I created this card. I’m excited that this stamp set is carrying over as I think it will be fun to create more projects with it.

  • 151770 – Layering Circle Dies (R)
  • 160361 – Enjoy the Rhythm Stamp Set (C) (M)
  • Colors – Parakeet Party (C), Highland Heather (C), Basic White (C)

(R) Retiring, (C) Carrying Over (O) Online Exclusive, (M) Found in the Mini Catalog, (N) Found in the new Catalog available May 2, 2023

Time is running out and you only have a few more days left to place an order for your favorite retiring items before they are gone for good. Make sure to use the special hostess code in the right hand column when placing your order. I hope you have enjoyed all the samples I have shared with you. I have just two more days of fun projects featuring retiring items and then I will be jumping into more projects featuring new and carrying over projects. Thanks so much for your support and please take a minute to comment and share. I love hearing from you and appreciate when you enjoy my work enough to share it with others.

Goodbye Designer Series Paper

We have so many great Designer Series Papers (DSP) and I wanted to feature a few projects using some of these papers that will be going away. While many of the stamp sets that I am featuring will be carrying over unfortunately the DSP will not be. Sometimes they carry over, but with a major color change like we are having we will be getting all new DSP.

I had a lot of fun with these cards. My husband and I actually met when I asked him for a ride on his motorcycle almost 30 years ago. His favorite colors are purple and green so when I finally had a chance to play with this set I had him help me with the coloring. You’ll notice that the motorcycles vary a bit from each other as I played with different combinations. I’m featuring the Ready to Ride DSP which is part of the Suite Collection along with the Silver Foil that has been embossed.

  • 160754 – Legendary Ride Stamp Set (C) (M)
  • 160762 – Legendary Ride Dies (C) (M)
  • 160763 – Legendary Ride Bundle (R) (M)
  • 160768 – Ready to Ride Suite Collection (R) (M)
  • 160766 – Metal Plate 3DEmbossing Folder (C) (M)
  • 160767 – Adhesive-Backed Studs (R) (M)
  • 160752 – Ready to Ride DSP (R) (M)
  • 160382 – Country Bouquet Punch (C) (M)
  • 156457 – Silver Foil 12 x 12 Specialty Paper (R)
  • 155766 – Simply Elegant Trim (C)
  • Colors – Gorgeous Grape (C), Parakeet Party (C), Basic White (C), Basic Black (C), Basic Gray (C)

(R) Retiring, (C) Carrying Over, (M) Found in the Mini Catalog

Here’s one more card using this suite. I will list the additional products used along with the colors. One of the things I love about his card is how well the large watercolor world stamp set works so well with the motorcycle.

  • 160708 – Watercolor World Stamp Set (C) (M)
  • Colors – Pumpkin Pie (C), Basic Grey (C), Sahara Sand (R), Basic Black (C)

I am in love with this quick and easy layout. I’ve actually made multiple cards using this layout. I was going off a similar layout and cut the paper the wrong size however once I did I decided I liked this size even better. This card works perfect with our DSP. Simply cut your DSP into 4 x 8. You can get four cards out of one piece of DSP and still have a 4×4 square left for other projects. To finish you will score it at 2″ and 4″. Attached the 4×4 section to a 4 1/4″ by 4 1/4″ background and decorate how you want. The main image is designed to be centered and only attach to half the card when folded back like a Z-Fold card. This hides the image below which is in a similar shape.

  • 155092 – Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set (R)
  • 155766 – Simply Elegant Trim (C)
  • 159245 – Pretty Prints DSP (R)
  • 155523 – Brilliant Wings Dies (R)
  • 159183 – Stylish Shapes Dies (C)
  • 155536 – Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set (R)
  • 154289 – Opal Rounds (R)
  • Colors – Blackberry Bliss (C), Rich Razzleberry (R), Basic White (C), Shaded Spruce (C)

(R) Retiring, (C) Carrying Over

Here’s another sample using the same design. This one features the darling Rhino Ready online exclusive stamp set. This time I used circles rather than squares and the hostess designer series paper.

  • 160959 – Rhino Ready Stamp Set (O)
    • Rhino Ready Dies – Currently Unavailable -Online Exclusive
  • 159161 – Design a Daydream DSP (R)
  • 151770 – Layering Circles Dies (R)
  • 159183 – Stylish Shapes Dies (C)
  • 155475 – Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack (C)
  • 133456 – Memento Ink (C)
  • 154904 – Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends (C)
  • 154893 – Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends (C)
  • Colors – Blackberry Bliss (C), Daffodil Delight (C), Old Olive (C), Basic White (C)

(R) Retiring, (C) Carrying Over, (M) Found in the Mini Catalog, (O) Online Exclusives

Adventure Awaits

It’s been a while since I’ve created a scrapbook page but I had this idea while I was doing some training at my new job. Have you ever gotten and idea from a project from somewhere kind of unusual? During the training they kept showing a picture and then drawing a line from the picture to create a rectangle. My mind immediately thought it would make a great card front or accent for a scrapbook page. As I mentioned the other day my family loves to be outdoors and I fell in love with the Campology stamp set wanting to use if for scrapbook pages. When I started creating this project I was drawn to the Greatest Journey Dies that I showcased early. I enjoyed combining the Enjoy the Journey Suite with the Campology Stamps to create this fun scrapbook layout. Now I just need to go camping so I can add some pictures.

I thought that I would give you a close up of some of the details on the page. Rather than cutting out the letters and placing them on the cardstock I actually did the reverse and lined them up and cut them out using the cutout as my header. I used some old washi tape to hold them in place so they didn’t move as I was cutting them out. The advantage to this technique was that I didn’t have to worry about attaching a bunch of small pieces to my project.

I really love how the accent pieces turned out. I think I may create more projects using this outline technique. It was simple to create using a ruler and our stampin’ write markers. I also used black to add shadow to some of the images as a way to incorporate the black accessories I wanted to use from the suite. I finished it off by using accents from the greatest journey suite including some of the awesome designer series paper which is where I pulled my color scheme from.

  • 152553 – Campology Stamp Set (R)
  • 160588 – Greatest Journey Stamp Set (R) (M)
  • 160594 – Greatest Journey Bundle (Stamp and Dies) (R) (M)
  • 160599 – Enjoy the Journey Suite Collection (R) (M)
  • 160597 – Three Twine Combo Pack, Garden green, Coastal Cabana (R) (M)
  • 160598 – Enamel Sticker Icons – (R) (M)
  • 160586 – Enjoy the Journey 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper (R) (M)
  • 160750 – Alphabet A la Mode (C) (M)
  • 104199 – Linen Thread (C)
  • Colors – Coastal Cabana (C), Garden Green (C), Crumb Cake (C), Basic Black (C), Basic White (C)

(R) Retiring, (C) Carrying Over, (M) Found in the Mini Catalog

When I started this project I originally used the colors Shaded Spruce and Very Vanilla, but then I ended up deciding to use elements from the Enjoy the Journey Suite and the Designer Series Paper used slightly different colors. Rather than let my original focal image go to waste I turned it into a quick card adding in additional embellishments and words from the suite.
