merry-christmas-ornamentThese are some of the last minute Christmas decorations I made for my tree.  I actually made them on Christmas Eve.  I waited to put most of the glass ornaments on until the last minute so that Xander (my one year old) wouldn’t get a hold of them.

They were really easy to make I just used the rub-on’s on the clear glass balls.  I found that the smaller ones and the long ones were a lot easier to do.  I did a couple of square sayings and they were difficult to get on without overlapping.

Technique Tuesday 12-23-08

If you’ve never tried cracked glass before then you really need to try this fun technique.  It’s really simple.

  1. Stamp your image however you want it to look.  I actually stamped mine and then colored it in.
  2. Make sure your paper is cut to the size the you want your final piece to be.
  3. Third cover the entire piece of paper with versa mark ink.  I just press my paper right down into the pad.
  4. Sprinkle Glassy Glaze embossing powder over the entire page.  (This is the ultra thick embossing powder.)
  5. Heat until melted.
  6. Let cool a minute and then repeat steps 3-5.
  7. Let cool and repeat steps 3-5.  This should be your third time. It should be really thick and look watery on the page.
  8. Put the paper in the Freezer.  Let is sit for 10 to 15 minutes.  You wanted it to be cold and really solid.  It will usually curl up.
  9. Remove from freezer and bend back gently cracking the the the embossing powder.  Be sure to only bend slightly so that you don’t actually crease your card-stock.
  10. Continue bending until you have your desired look.  You can also put it back in the freezer for a minute if it is starting to get soft.
  11. Make sure you crack it immediately.  It won’t crack at room temperature.
  12. Finish your project as desired.

Here is a sample of the card I made using this fun technique.  I will try to get pictures posted of the actual steps a little later.

Marvelous Monday 12-22-08

you-me-monkey My up-line Brandi made this for a swap at convention.  I think it’s really cute and fits in the Marvelous Monday Category.  I really love the You & Me stamp set which is being retired so make sure you order yours before it’s to late.

Remember you can click on the picture if you want to see it bigger.

Swapping Saturday 12-20-08

I really wish I knew who to give proper credit to for this card.  I believe it was a swap from Brandi Barnard’s meeting in October.  I just think it is really cute and shows how you can use the punches on stamp sets that weren’t designed specifically for them.  I believe this is actually the punch pals set though.

s-3-tags-christmasYou probably can’t see it in the picture very well but she used crystal effects (I think) on the scarf the ornaments and the holly and nose.  They are stamped on white glossy paper so they really shine and it’s very cute.  The very merry and the snowflakes are embossed .   It’s very cute and you did a great job.  If anyone knows who did this card please let me know so I can give her proper credit.

Freewheeling Friday 12-19-08

I was going through some of my Holiday Decorations and discovered these two great frames I made last year.   I thought I would share them with you today since the background was so simple to make.  I just used the Versa Mark with our Bold Snowflakes Jumbo Wheel.  f-noel-frame

I know it’s really hard to see but it looks great in person.  I’ve added a close up shot so hopfully you will be able to see the effect.  The are really fun to put out for the holidays.  f-holiday-frame-close

I really like the big one because I can change out the picture when I want to.f-holiday-frame
