Stampin’ Sunday 2-15-09

Today I decided to share the projects that we did at club this month. They were all centered around the wonderful Sale-A-Brations Sets. We also used the technique that I showed on Technique Tuesday February 3rd. You can check out all the details there.

The Scrapbookers got to make this cute 12 x 12 double page layout. I got the idea form page 4 of the sale-a-bration catalog. I love that the paper, Polka Dot Punches stamp set and the ribbon all work together.

Opportunity of a Lifetime

The economy is a huge issue of concern right now and that is why I’m so grateful for Stampin’ Up! At leadership conference the president of Stampin’ Up! Dale Filmore spoke about this very issues. My up-line Amy Johnson sent out a wonderful summary of what he said and I wanted to share it with you.

While the current international economic climate is presenting challenges to most of us, recent research indicates that it may also be providing opportunities for those of us in the craft industry.

During last week’s annual leadership conference, Dale mentioned a
New York Times’ article titled, “For Craft Sales, the Recession Is a
Help.” The article reports that “craft stores, from giant chains . . . tosmall scrapbook supply shops, are reporting that sales are higher compared with the last holiday season, and online marketplaces for handmade goods . . . are seeing a boom in listings and transactions.”

The article also notes that last year, 42 million households gave handmade gifts, according to the Craft & Hobby Association. This year, the group estimates that number will increase greatly.

In addition, a Columbus Dispatch article reports that consumers are reclaiming a simpler life, with more people opting to do their own home improvement and decoration projects as well as investing in more stay-at-home projects and entertainment.

I really loved what they said and I completely agree with them. Although times are tough I think we still feel the need to send a card for birthdays, weddings, babies and everything else. Wacky Wednesday 1-28-09

Thanks so much to all of you who made it to my open house. I had a great time and I hope you did too. For those of you who couldn’t make it here is some of the fun you missed. Maybe next time you will be able to join in the fun.

Because it was and open house and there was no official hostess to give a gift to and my prize drawing was for the hostess benefits I decided to give each guest a special gift for coming. Each guest received one of these fun Good friend boxes and each was filled with a different surprise gift. Once again I used the new Good Friends Stamp Set #113740 $28.95 and the fun new Petal Pizzazz #113417 $32.95.

Then each guest had the opportunity to create 2 fun make and takes. The first used the set Just Buzzin’ By #113228 $27.95. This is one of my favorite new stamp sets. We made a card and a matching envelope. It’s hard to see but the card says “just buzzin’ by to say…” Then on the inside it says “have a honey of a day! We also stamped a cute flower on the inside.

The second project used the wonderful big shot top not die #113463 $21.95 and some of the products from the Love you Much Bundle #115405 $41.48. We used the heart to Heart Punch #113694 $15.95 and the Love You Much Stamp Set #113756 $25.95. The Bundle also includes the Candy Lane DSP#113980 $9.95 which I love so much that I didn’t have enough left to use. Hostess Drawing

So I was cleaning up the other day getting ready for my open house. I realized I still had the grand prize from Novemberfest that was never claimed.
