Creative Card Making with Happy Place Stamp Set

Last night’s project was so much fun to share! 💕 I’ll admit—I had a couple of little mishaps along the way, but hopefully if you watched, you still loved this fun and creative idea. Sometimes those little hiccups make crafting even more real and relatable. 😊

I shared several projects using the Happy Place stamp set #165966, and I loved exploring different ways to bring this set to life.

Three handmade greeting cards featuring colorful designs. One card says 'HAPPY place' with a beach scene in the letters, another card features the phrase 'HAPPY days' with a similar theme, and the third card has a black and white pattern of palm trees.

Project 1:
I showed how to color the images using Watercolor Pencils #149014 with Water Painters #168253. Quick tip: I first tried this on watercolor paper, but I don’t recommend it for this technique. I got a much clearer stamped image when I used white cardstock instead.

Project 2:
For the second card, I kept things super simple by stamping directly onto the Beach Boardwalk DSP #166820. This made for an easy, clean design with very little effort.

Project 3 (Step-by-Step):
For my final card, I walked through the process of creating a multicolor background using paper instead of coloring.
Here’s how it came together:

  • I applied Adhesive Sheets #152334 to cardstock
  • Cut ¼” strips of different colors and lined them up
    • Highland Heather
    • Flirty Flamingo
    • Peach Pie
    • Pool Party
    • Summer Splash
    • Azure Afternoon
  • Trimmed the panel to size and stamped the image in black
  • Used the 2″ Circle Punch #133782 for the “days” sentiment
  • Finished it off with the So Swirly Embossing Folder #163791, Black Baker’s Twine #155475, and Muted Palette Dots #165155

This technique gives a similar look to coloring—but without picking up a pencil!

I hope these projects inspire you to take another look at the Happy Place stamp set and try something new.

Celebrate National Polka Dot Day with a Simple Stamping Technique

At work, I usually kick off our morning stand-up meetings by sharing fun things to celebrate—and did you know today is National Polka Dot Day? 🎉 That little fact got my creative wheels turning and inspired me to celebrate with a hand-stamped card.

A colorful greeting card featuring a central yellow circle with the text 'HELLO Sunshine', set against a patterned background of pastel circles and small black flowers.

I wanted to keep this project super simple, but still include a fun and easy technique. I paired two unlikely stamp sets—Exploring Nature (Hello Sunshine) #166913 and Love Story (small flower) #167065.

I used the small flower from Love Story to create a playful polka dot background by stamping the image in black on white cardstock. To add color, I inked sponge daubers #133773 in Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo and stamped over the flowers—quick, easy, and so cheerful!

For the focal element, I added a Coastal Cabana tag embossed with the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder #165559, finished it off with a big baker’s twine bow, and cut my Hello Sunshine sentiment using the Stylish Shapes Dies #159183 out of Daffodil Delight cardstock and stamped in black. I mounted the finished piece on Melon Mambo cardstock to tie it all together.

Quick, simple, and oh so cute! 💕

Be sure to check out my Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube if you’d like to see a short video showing just how easy this technique comes together. And while you’re there, remember to subscribe so you be able to catch my upcoming projects!

⛄ Day 8 – Penguin Pals & Snowy Sketch Challenge!

Day 8 brought another fun sketch challenge, this time paired with the theme Penguin Pals — adorable chilly friends bundled up with scarves and hats! 🐧🧣

For this challenge, I decided to reach for one of my favorite retired snowman sets, along with a retired snowflake set and some shaker elements, to create a super fun and easy shaker card made with flip flaps. ❄️

The stylish shapes dies were perfect for creating my shaker window. If you want to learn how to make one of these cards, you can check out my tutorial video here:
🎥 How to Make a Flip Flap Shaker Card

For this design, I focused on cool winter blues, combining a few of this year’s beautiful In ColorsCloud Cover and Secret Sea — with Misty Moonlight for depth. I added a pop of brightness with Poppy Parade, then finished it off with sparkle using Wink of Stella and the Misty Moonlight Silver-Edged Ribbon.

Our Blending Pens made coloring these snowmen super easy, and I added the perfect finishing touch with a few Hues of Blue flower embellishments, which remind me of snowflakes and matched perfectly with my color palette.

This fun shaker card is full of motion, shimmer, and joy — sure to delight and surprise anyone who receives it this holiday season! 💙✨
