Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set

I fell in love with this stamp set from the first moment I saw it, but in the time that I’ve had it I’ve struggled to actually create with it. This week the Global Design Project has a color challenge #GDP389 which included the colors Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie & Tahitian Tide. When deciding what retiring stamp set to use I thought that the cocktails in this set would make for a perfect. Honestly, I love how it turned out. I know that there are stamps in the set that you can use to fill in the element of the cocktail glass however I decided to used my markers instead. This allowed me to have different levels of liquid in the glass. To add a bit of sparkle I finished them off by coloring them with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush. Which just so happens to be one of my favorite ways to add a bit of sparkle to a project. This set has so many great words that I just had to use multiple on the card. I also could resist stamping on the inside of the card as well.

When I’m creating I often struggle with coming up with a layout. I’ve turned to creating my own challenge which is to choose a design layout from my collection in my Pinterest board. I also have a board for color combos that I will use when needed. I turned to this board when trying to decided on a layout for this design. I love Pinterest for ideas. It’s a great place to get inspiration. I also use the catalogs, follow other stampers on Facebook and blogs, and sometimes search the internet or just look around me. What do you use for inspirations when you are feeling stuck?

After making my first card I decided to challenge myself to make more cards using this stamp set and the same color combo. The hard part was in my mind this color combo didn’t really work with the other words and images in the stamp set. This meant I needed to think a bit out of the box to create these cards. I also challenged myself to continue to use layouts from my Pinterest board. Can you figure out which layouts I used? The last challenged I used was to incorporate more retiring product including, dies, embossing folders, colors and embellishments. I’d love to hear which design is your favorite. If you take a moment you’ll see I tried to use almost every stamp and every die to create these cards. Again I stamped the inside of each card and I used multiple of the different sayings.

Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set

For these cards I challenged myself to create simple cards using only stamps and inks. Stampin’ Up! refers to this a simple stamping. I thought this stamp set worked perfect for this type of project. I actually struggle not to add ribbon or embellishments to a project. One of the nice parts about these cards are not only are they inexpensive and fast to create they are totally flat so you don’t have to pay extra to mail them out. Sending a card in the mail has become somewhat of a lost art. I’ll say I’ve even slacked at it, but I love getting in the mail and need to remember others do too.

I used the blending brushes to add a pop of color to the monochromatic design. Have you tried the blending brushes yet? The more I use them the more I love them. Originally I thought that you could get all the ink out of them and while that is true to an extent I have found that it doesn’t completely go away so I try to use a different brush for color families. I would love to have a brush for each color – but like many of you that’s not economically something I can afford. Besides that there are some any other products I want. One thing I have liked is that we now have the small blending brushes. I actually prefer these ones. You can find them in the current mini along with the storage for them; however, the best news is that they are carrying over to the main catalog.

Ranunculus Romance Stamp Set

My normal style is a bit more contemporary but I really loved the look of this stamp set and wanted to try something a bit different. I was trying to go for more layers and textures with this card. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, but I really like it. I have to thank my friend Rose Coleman for the idea to layer the two circle together to create a paper circle. While I’ve seen it before she recently used it in one of her projects and it helped to inspire me.

The idea was to add a lot of layers and details to make this card pop so I wanted to give you a closer look of some of the details. I used the linen paper as the background and embossed it then stamped directly on it. I cut out the circle by layering the two circle dies then I embossed it and used the directly to paper technique with white ink to add additional dimension.

The stamped images are all fussy cut and the ribbon is created by making a circle with the Metallic Mesh. I wrapped the Silver Simply Elegant Trim around three fingers three times then placed it against the Metallic Mesh and tied it around the center. The Sweet Sorbet metallic was just layered back and forth on the back ground.

I created the tag by slipping just one end of my paper into the best label punch to punch just the one side and create a longer tag then just punching the word out. I finished the project out by adding basic pearls.

#TGIFC415 Color Challenge

Did you know that there is a fun blog called TGIF Challenges? Each week they present a new challenge idea that anyone can participate in. I love challenges because they are often the push I need to be a little different than my norm or to just get me stamping. As I have been working to get through all of my retiring stamp set to create projects to share I thought that this challenge would be an excellent way to see what I could create using a retiring stamp set as well as the challenge. This week the challenge was for a color combo – Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay. You can check out their samples here #TGIFC415 Color Challenge.

I also wanted to try something a little different with this card. I have always enjoyed the paper piecing technique and decided rather than doing it as the front of the card I would use it to create the card base and do a little something different for the card opening. I’ve created this quick video for you to show how easy it is to create this background and card.

I actually created this card using the hello beautiful stamp set for the challenge first, but I liked the sailboat card better so I featured it first in the blog. The inspiration for my card was from the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog – pg 50 where the stamp set was highlighted. I keep all my old catalogs as they are a great source of inspiration for color combos, layouts or just to spark the imagination. Do you keep your catalogs? Did you know a new catalog will be coming out in May? Be sure to contact me if you would like to receive your own catalog.

Paradise Palms Stamp Set

Today is the last day of Spring break yet for us here in Utah it has been more like winter break with record breaking snow fall. I’m craving a bit of the sun shine so I thought I’d share a beachy project today.

I created this card a while back when I was watching my friend Rose Coleman’s Facebook live. She was demonstrating a card for the Global Design Challenge #384. It was a challenge to case a design layout. I wanted to try the challenge myself and while I didn’t get it posted to be included in the challenge I was happy with the results. I used the blending brushes to created the background and the dies rather than the stamps for the shadows. You might be surprised to find out that the trees are actually cut out of basic grey card stock and then colored using the blending brushes. I wanted them to have different levels of darkness rather than them being all the same.
